10 tips for choosing a wardrobe
Choosing a genre
1. Separate wardrobe or built-in?
A freestanding wardrobe is good because it can be rearranged at any time or moved to a new home. In addition, they can divide the space into zones.
Built-in wardrobes are deprived of this, but they have their advantages.
Firstly, built-in furniture saves space and does not visually clutter the interior.
Second, built-in solutions are often cheaper because they require less material and less production time.
Determining dimensions
2. What is the minimum depth?
The minimum required for comfortable positioning of outerwear is 55 cm, light – 50. Add to this about 10 cm for sliding doors and you get the minimum depth for the wardrobe.
3. What about width and height?
The minimum length is limited by the design features of the compartment doors and is at least one meter.
The height of the built-in cabinet is determined by the geometry of the space in which it is inscribed. What about free-standing models?
Italian factories can produce custom-made wardrobes of any height. The maximum height for standard solutions is usually 278 cm. When choosing a height, consider what you will store on the upper shelves and how you will provide easy access to them.
Selecting the inner filling
4. What should be inside?
The largest compartment is for hanging clothes, including the top, with a height of 150-175 cm. Each piece requires 5 cm rods. For trousers, skirts and blouses, you can arrange a separate box with 80-100 cm height barbells.
It is convenient to store knitwear in stacks of 2-4 pieces, so you should provide several small shelves.
At the bottom, you should plan shelves for shoes, and at the top – for general things like sports equipment or suitcases.

5. How many shelves and hangers do you need?
To answer this question, count the number of clothes, shoes, and accessories you plan to keep in your closet. Don't forget to add 20% if your wardrobe is growing.
6. What helps maintain order?
“Smart” filling helps to maintain order. Pull-out shelves are more convenient than fixed shelves, it is easier to find things in drawers with a transparent front, and organizers for scarves and linens will prevent chaos in the compartments.

7. How to store shoes?
Special shoe shelves that can be installed inside the wardrobe are very convenient, but unfortunately they are not very roomy. A practical solution is to leave a compartment at the bottom of the wardrobe, which will allow you to store your shoes in boxes.
8. How can you save money?
Interior stuffing can significantly increase the value of a cabinet. It’s hard to strike a balance between convenience and cost, but there are some painless tricks to keeping things organized. For example, opt for lightweight wire baskets over closed wooden boxes and replace expensive fixed organizers with removable inserts in the boxes.
Appearance
9. What should be the facade?
Sliding wardrobe doors can be covered with colored lacquer, leather, veneer or mirrored. The latter option visually increases the space, but does not add comfort to the room.
Many sliding wardrobes are produced in a series with furniture for a living room or bedroom. It is easy to maintain the integrity of the design by purchasing the entire composition.
10. Width and number of doors
The width of the doors is determined by the dimensions of the cabinet. The permissible size is from 60 to 120 cm, the most optimal is about 80. Cabinets look most harmonious in which the width and height ratio of the doors is 1: 5.
