How Should Lighting Planning Be?

Scientists have long agreed on the importance of light for human mental and physical health. The connection between them is so complex that it cannot be fully explained. The only thing that is indisputable is that light is very important for our health.

Light and Space

Light provides harmony, happiness, brightness, turns night into day. It determines our biological rhythm. Light is life.
Light increases your potential at work and allows you to live your private life better. For example, optimal lighting allows you to see better and more comfortably what you are doing at work or in the kitchen, and therefore to do it well. This way, you do not get tired quickly.

Warm, white, indirect light relaxes the eye, whereas direct sunlight has an activating and performance enhancing effect. Use the light for yourself!

How Should Lighting Be?

Light should first illuminate the space. The most important factor is not to make the eyes work too much and to prevent them from getting tired quickly. Another important function of light is to provide a suitable atmosphere for the space; because what makes the space warm, cold, attractive or rejecting depends on the lighting used in the space.
Today's lighting technology offers countless possibilities and ideas. However, a thorough planning is essential for balanced lighting that will provide a comfortable environment.

Different spaces can be perfectly arranged with different lighting – from spotlights to wall lamps, ceiling lamps, halogen spotlights, table lamps and floor lamps. The most important condition for this is to have enough sockets and wall outlets. So if you are going to do construction or renovation, make sure that the electrical outlet for lighting is in the right place.
First, a switch is installed next to the door for the basic lighting in the space.

Following this, the ambiance of the room is achieved by illuminating specific areas and objects. This means that different spaces, such as art objects, reading and communication areas or study rooms, are illuminated with special lighting. Different light levels underline the specificity of the space and at the same time give the room a different atmosphere.

Direct and indirect lighting

The eye perceives direct and indirect light. Direct light, such as a candle flame, creates a pleasant feeling. However, this unprotected direct light enters the eye without a filter. Therefore, the so-called indirect lighting method should be preferred.

The protected light source should be reflected from the walls and ceiling. There are many methods of indirect lighting. The light source can be hidden in the ceiling fascia, wall or curtain fresco, or mounted in a wall or ceiling recess. In order to provide a wide illumination diameter, attention should be paid to the distance of the light source to the illuminated area. It is important that it is above eye level.

Wall recesses should therefore be installed at a height of 170 cm and above. Please note: in small spaces with low ceilings, the effect of these recesses will vary and should be installed with good planning.
