Studio apartment for single

Maxim Tikhonov managed to turn a typical apartment in a “Khrushchev” building into a modern studio in his own style. Initially, the owner of the apartment planned to rent it out. However, the owner of the studio liked the result so much that he moved to it himself.

Redevelopment

The owner of the apartment immediately gave the architect complete freedom of action, but within the agreed budget.

The first step was to get rid of everything unnecessary. To get a living space with three windows and three-meter ceilings, it was necessary to demolish partitions and mezzanine floors, remove plank floors and clean the brick walls from plaster.

Despite the small area, the apartment creates a feeling of open space. How did it happen?

Firstly, all free space is used to the maximum. Wide window sills create additional useful surfaces. A spacious wardrobe is used for storing things, and all furniture is functional and compact.

Secondly, competent zoning of space creates freedom of movement.

Thirdly, a neutral light gray color scheme visually expands a small space.

Colour scheme, furniture and accessories

On a tight budget, the designer created an original mix of trendy Swedish furniture, designer pieces and retro 60s pieces. Most of the surfaces in the apartment are painted in light gray tones. Bright retro posters on the walls and colorful accessories “dilute” the monochrome range.

Living space

Kitchen

Despite the small area, the kitchen is light, comfortable and functional. The wide window sill has become a kind of continuation of the table top.

bathroom

The small size of the bathroom did not leave room for “maneuvering”. A shower cabin, a small wardrobe and shelves built into a niche became the only correct solution.
