Art Deco and American classics in an apartment for a teenage girl

The apartment is located in a high-rise complex in the west of Istanbul. The client bought it with decoration and furniture, but quickly realized that the character and style of the interior were definitely not for him. The apartment is truly masculine – in gray tones, with technical lighting and a leather sofa in the living room. The hostess turned to the architect Serap Kevser to equip it according to her tastes.

The hostess immediately liked the concept, the choice of Art Deco style with elements of modern classics, and the sketches. However, to implement the idea it was necessary to completely redraw not only the decorative finish, but also the layout.

With the new plan, the living room in the apartment turned into a cozy isolated area, and the rest of the space was occupied by two dressing rooms, a pantry, a bedroom, a separate dining room and a small office.

The client chose a restrained color scheme. Therefore, the basis was created from gray and beige tones, and the color variety is built not on contrast, but on harmony and nuances. The combination of textures and materials is of great importance.

Kitchen, study and living room

The living room, study and kitchen form a single space. Despite the absence of doors, the furniture turned out comfortable and each area was isolated.

A thin partition separates the kitchen adjacent to the dining room. Due to its elongated shape, the kitchen set had to be arranged in two rows, and there was no room for decor. It was decided to focus on the ceiling – it was decorated with an author's stained glass window.

Bedroom

The starting point for the bedroom interior was the headboard. Its flowing lines are repeated in the silhouettes of lamps, the carvings of the writer's cabinet and the drawing of textiles.

Bathroom and toilet for guests

The walls were tiled with geometric patterns to hide the many corners that “cut” into the bathroom. The guest bathroom is completely covered with mosaics that reflect the decorative mirror.
