Modern Terrace Designs

Modern Terrace Designs Whoever has a terrace, no matter how small, has a treasure. Therefore, it is important to focus on the really necessary elements to make the most of it.

Is there anyone who wants to decorate or organize their terrace? Would you like to hear me out before I start? Before you get fooled by the misleading images of furniture, flooring, and vertical elements in catalogs, I suggest you go shopping after determining the outlines of your design. I have chosen a few designs to give you an idea. I hope you like them 🙂

With the arrival of good weather, no one can resist enjoying the outdoors. If it can be done in the comfort of your own home, all the better. Nowadays, having a terrace or a small balcony, no matter what size it is, is a privilege that you should know how to take advantage of. An armchair and a table (or a piece of furniture that acts as one) are the basic elements. From there, with skill and creativity, a practical, functional and beautiful space can be created.

Having little space doesn’t mean giving up on design. In this sense, round, egg-shaped and even hanging chairs fit well into small spaces, filling them with personality.

Those made with natural fibers such as rattan facilitate the passage of light, creating a light space that is pleasing to the eye. Just to make it really comfortable, it will be complemented by some cushions.

Knowing how to take advantage of impressive views is a great virtue. Decorating in harmony with the outside helps to perceive it as an extension of itself. On the other hand, painting the walls helps to give it depth.

Whatever the type, vegetation is another essential element when decorating a small terrace. On the one hand, a beautiful pot with an XL-sized outdoor plant is a good start to create a heavenly atmosphere. On the other hand, it is also interesting to take advantage of dressing it up a lot, either from the ceiling or the wall, with hanging plants or geranium-type pots that take up almost nothing.

It is worth losing a few centimeters for comfort. And being able to stretch the legs is the most relaxing thing. In addition to having hanging pots or wooden trellises to provide vegetation, the use of artificial grass should also be valued.

For the adventurous and independent, there are other options beyond the classic terrace. Creating a bohemian-style lounging area is one of them. Demarcating the space with a rug, covering it with plenty of cushions and adding lanterns when it gets dark are the first steps to transforming it into an attractive entertaining area.

When the heat hits, even the most impressive terraces can become uninhabitable. Solutions such as curtains, umbrellas or an original thatched canopy are welcome.

The furniture must adapt to the space of the terrace to integrate perfectly. If the plan is extended, multi-person sofas and rectangular tables would be good candidates to be part of it.

If you are going to be outside for long periods of time, the furniture needs to be resistant to the elements, especially the sun, water and humidity. While furniture that mimics natural fibers is widely accepted in terms of style, white, chocolate brown, green and blue are the most popular in terms of color.

Space permitting, the ideal thing is to place a table with matching chairs. Placing them to one side rather than in the centre will make the small terrace appear larger.

In any case, it is appropriate to choose white for painting both the wall and the furniture so that it does not look saturated. A very large plant can be used in one or two corners to give height to the whole.

What if there is no terrace? Transit areas are often used to create a cozy and comfortable meeting place. A table with matching chairs and a decorative object such as a floor lamp, large flower pots or a light rug can help define the space and give it its own identity.
