Secrets of choosing a sofa

What does a sofa consist of?

Modular sofas are not a monolithic structure, but a series of sections of different sizes and shapes. Their number varies from 3 to 60 for one model.

Typically, a modular sofa includes several flat modules, corner and end elements, a sofa. The main modules are usually offered in different configurations, differing in width, back height, presence and type of armrests and other details. In addition, poufs and armchairs are often included in the soft modular system.

When purchasing a modular sofa, the buyer decides which modules he needs and how to arrange them. Don't worry, you won't have to go into technical details. The designer in the living room will do it for you.

When choosing a configuration, not only the dimensions and geometry of the room are important, but also other nuances, for example, whether the sofa will be used for zoning, whether it is necessary to provide a guest bed, whether the shape of the sofa is planned to be changed in the future.

Design options – what to choose?

All modular sofas can be divided into two types: rigidly attached (sectional) and transformable – Parts can be replaced according to needs.

In the first case, the configuration is selected once and the modules are rigidly fixed during assembly.

Transformable models are more flexible. In fact, purchasing such a sofa, the buyer receives a kind of “designer furniture”. Non-connecting sections can be changed, turned into separate chairs or sofas. At any time, you can add new modules to the sofa or get rid of annoying ones.

Which option to choose depends on your preferences. Do you like change? Your choice is models from separate sections, the configuration of which can be changed at least every day. And in the event of a move, such a sofa can easily adapt to the new geometry of the room.

If changes in the interior are not planned in the near future, choose a reliable sofa with firmly attached sections.

Is a modular sofa always necessary?

Despite the obvious advantages such as flexibility, portability and ease of transportation, modular sofas still have a few disadvantages.

The first is price. Modular design requires technologically advanced fittings, increasing material consumption and the time required for production.

The second is the limited style that the modular sofa fits in. Therefore, sectional sofas are perfect for loft, hi-tech, minimalism and Scandinavian styles. But they are inappropriate in country interiors and the most stylized living rooms of past eras.

The offer of modular sofas in classical or baroque style is very limited. Among them there are linear and angular models of different widths, but there are practically no sofas from free modules.
